Activities orientated towards Scientific research are covered in the operation Statistics on Scientific Research and Technological Development Activities, which measures the resources (human and material) used in this type of activities by companies, universities and other centres dependent on public bodies that carry out R&D activities. It also includes information on patents and utility models registered by companies or individuals resident in the Basque Country. The statistics on R&D can reveal the degree of community competence or scientific progress and its position as regards other surrounding countries.
