Objectives
The overall objective of Demographic Indicator statistics is to obtain a series of descriptive indicators on the demographic situation of the A.C. of Euskadi, making it possible to analyse its development through time. The study of the following demographic phenomena is dealt with: deaths, marriages, fertility and emigration.
This overall aim may be broken down into the following specific objectives:
- to provide a series of indispensable demographic tables for the study of a population,
- to summarise the information from other statistical operations: Census and Register, Natural Movement of the Population and Migratory Movement Statistics,
- to make available annual population figures by generation and sex in the years between registers from 1975 to the date of the last valid register.
- to obtain a tool for the development of population projections.
Coverage
- Population:
- the population analysed in the Demographic Indicators is limited according to the type of demographic phenomenon being dealt with..
- Deaths: all disaggregated individuals by sex aged from 0 to 100.
- Marriages: women aged from 14 to 60.
- Fertility: in the case of general fertility it refers to women of a fertile age (from 14 to 49 years of age); and in the case of marital fertility, for all married women.
- Migration: all disaggregated individuals by sex from 0 years of age to the life expectancy age for each of the sexes.
- Geographic scope:
- the information offered in the publications is shown for the whole of the A.C. of Euskadi, each of the provinces and their respective districts.
- Timeframe:
- the publications with a territorial scope use as a reference the years in which the calculations are focused, which in this case coincides with the census or register year and the preceding year, and in the case of the district publication coincides with years ending in 5 and 0..
